Agreement to terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of squishyfile.com and its tools (together, the "Service"), operated by SquishyFile ("we", "us", "our"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Description of the Service

SquishyFile provides free, browser-based tools that run entirely on your own device — currently starting with file compression tools, with more tools and formats planned over time. The Service is designed so that files you process are handled entirely on your own device, using your browser's local processing capabilities — no file is uploaded to our servers as part of normal use of the tools, whatever tool you're using. The Service does not require registration, an account, or a login of any kind.

The Service is provided free of charge and is supported by display advertising, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you should only use the Service with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes. Specifically, you agree not to:

We reserve the right to restrict or block access to the Service for anyone we reasonably believe is violating these Terms, though given the absence of accounts, enforcement is generally limited to technical measures such as blocking abusive traffic patterns.

Your content and files

You retain all ownership rights to any files you process using SquishyFile. Because processing happens locally in your browser, we do not receive, store, host, or have any access to your files, and we make no claim of ownership or license over them. You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the right to use and process any file you bring to the Service, and for the output you generate and use afterward.

Intellectual property

The Service — including its design, branding, text, graphics, and underlying code (excluding open-source components governed by their own licenses) — is owned by SquishyFile and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may use the Service for its intended personal or business purpose, but you may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Service or its underlying software without prior written permission, except as permitted by open-source licenses applicable to specific components.

Third-party advertising and links

The Service displays advertisements served by third-party advertising networks (such as Google AdSense), which may link to third-party websites. We do not control, endorse, or take responsibility for the content, products, services, or privacy practices of any third-party sites or advertisers. Your interactions with advertisers or third-party sites accessed through the Service are solely between you and that third party.

Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE. We do not guarantee that compression results will meet any particular quality, size, or format expectation, and you are responsible for verifying output files before relying on them (for example, before deleting an original file).

Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SQUISHYFILE AND ITS OPERATOR SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, FILES, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. BECAUSE FILE PROCESSING HAPPENS ON YOUR OWN DEVICE, YOU ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR MAINTAINING BACKUPS OF YOUR ORIGINAL FILES BEFORE COMPRESSING THEM. IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US TO USE THE SERVICE (WHICH, GIVEN THE SERVICE IS FREE, IS ZERO).

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SquishyFile and its operator from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.

Changes to the Service or these Terms

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any part of it) at any time, with or without notice. We may also update these Terms from time to time; material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

Termination

Since the Service does not use accounts, "termination" primarily means we may restrict or block access from a device, network, or IP address that we reasonably believe is violating these Terms, at our discretion and without prior notice.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws applicable to the jurisdiction in which SquishyFile's operator resides, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where local consumer protection law grants you additional mandatory rights that cannot be waived.
