Overview

SquishyFile ("SquishyFile", "we", "us", or "the site") provides free, browser-based tools at squishyfile.com — currently starting with file compression, with more tools planned over time. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you visit the site, how it's used, and the choices available to you. SquishyFile does not require an account, login, or sign-up of any kind — there is no user registration system, and we do not knowingly collect names, passwords, or account credentials from visitors.

By using SquishyFile, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you don't agree with any part of it, please don't use the site.

Your files never leave your device

This is the core of how SquishyFile works, so it's worth stating plainly: every tool on this site runs entirely client-side, in your browser, using WebAssembly. When you use a tool — to compress a video, or any other file-processing task we add in the future — the file is read and processed locally on your own device. It is never uploaded to our servers, never transmitted over the network, and never stored by us in any form. We have no technical ability to view, access, or retain the contents of files you process with SquishyFile, because they never reach our infrastructure in the first place.

Information we collect

Because there's no account system, we don't collect personal information like your name, email address, or payment details through normal use of the tools. The information we do collect falls into two categories:

1. Analytics data (Google Analytics 4)

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use the site — which pages are viewed, how long people stay, what device and browser they're using, approximate geographic location (typically city/country level, derived from IP address), and how visitors found the site (e.g. search engine, direct link). This helps us improve the site and understand which tools are useful. Google Analytics may use cookies and similar technologies (such as browser storage) to distinguish visitors and sessions. We have not enabled Google Signals or any feature that links analytics data to a visitor's Google account.

2. Advertising data

SquishyFile is supported by display advertising, which allows the tools to remain free with no file-size limits or watermarks. We work with third-party advertising partners (such as Google AdSense and its network of advertising partners) to display ads on the site. These partners may use cookies, web beacons, and similar tracking technologies to collect information about your visits to this and other websites, in order to provide advertisements about goods and services that may be of interest to you (interest-based or "personalized" advertising).

Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other sites on the internet. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and/or other sites. 3. Server and technical logs

Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically logs standard technical information when you request a page — such as IP address, browser type, referring page, and timestamp — for security, abuse prevention, and basic server operation. These logs are not used to identify individuals and are retained only for a limited operational period.

A cookie is a small text file stored on your device by your browser. SquishyFile itself does not use cookies to operate the compression tools — no cookie is required for a tool to work. However, cookies may be set by:

We do not sell personal information, and we do not have file content to sell or share in the first place, since it never reaches our servers.

However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Since the files you process with SquishyFile never leave your device, the security of that content is effectively in your own hands, governed by your device and browser's own security.

SquishyFile is accessible worldwide. If you access the site from outside the country where our servers or service providers are located, be aware that information collected by analytics or advertising partners may be transferred to, stored, and processed in other countries, including the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.
